Android For Work Released; So much Fun involved.

Android for Work Hits Play Store

Previously available as a built-in feature on Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google launched Android for Work as its own app on the Play Store.
"Over a billion people today carry Android smartphones--devices that are more powerful than the computers we used just a few years ago," explained Google in a blog post in February. "For many, these phones have become essential tools to help us complete important work tasks like checking email, editing documents, reviewing sales pipelines and approving deals. But for the majority of workers, smartphones and tablets are underutilized in the workplace." Android for Work looks to bring more security, management, and innovation to the mobile platform by dividing work and personal profiles on a device.

The Android for Work app is designed for Android devices running Ice Cream Sandwich through KitKat, or that don't run work profiles natively. The app offers secure versions of Google's Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Camera, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Chrome, as well as third-party apps, and can be completely managed by IT. The app does not support the latest Android operating system, 5.0 Lollipop, because it is baked into the OS. "Only compatible with Android for Work partner solutions," noted Google on the app's description. "With your IT administrator's support, the Android for Work app isolates and encrypts work data, including productivity, third-party, and internally developed applications. Use the Android for Work app to access all the business tools you need to get your job done." IT administrators will have full control over app distribution and wiping of all business data.
